About the designer

I'm Samantha Peterson, a graphic designer and illustrator who lives and works in San Mateo, California. I have worked in the fields of publishing, retail design, and government. In my last position as a graphic designer and illustrator at the San Francisco International Airport, I had the opportunity to take projects from concept to completion. Sycommunications is the next step in my journey as a graphic designer.

I studied graphic design at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California (1998-2002) and graduated with honors. I also have a previous Bachelors of Arts degree in Design and Illustration at Cal State Los Angeles. During school, I freelanced for the National Football League in Los Angeles, California working as a production assistant and gaining valuable experience. I also interned at Michael Osborne Design Studios in San Francisco during the summer of 2001. After graduation, I accepted a position at Guess Inc. in Los Angeles (2002-03) and worked in their in-house Retail Design department designing creative signs and marketing material for Guess stores. Following this job, I started working as a consultant for the Ad Art Company in Los Angeles (2003-05), to assist their sales staff in presentation materials as well as concepting in store displays. Soon thereafter, I started working for the San Francisco International Airport where I served as their in-house graphic designer and illustrator for almost four years (2005-2009). After starting a family, I chose to start a freelance business. At home, I enjoy spending time with my son and husband, cooking, running or taking a walk to a nearby park.
